CHARLES (CHIP) P. O’BRIEN is an accomplished attorney providing knowledgeable and reliable advice on transactional real estate matters, complex financing arrangements, and with respect to Delaware legal opinions.

Chip’s practice encompasses both complex commercial and residential real estate transactions, including purchases and sales, leasing, financing and refinancing transactions, and land development and use approvals. He works closely with his clients — businesses, property owners, developers, landlords, and tenants — to provide business-conscious advice in high value real estate transactions. In addition to his real estate practice, Chip represents financial institutions and private lenders involving commercial mortgage loans and asset-based lending transactions.

Chip works closely with counsel and companies based in Delaware, across the United States and globally to provide legal opinions in multijurisdictional transactions involving Delaware entities. With years of experience in this area, he understands the cost and timing demands in such transactions, and works diligently to provide reliable and timely service that consistently meets the client’s needs.

Chip’s successful legal career is founded on a solid foundation in law and business. As an undergraduate student, he majored in both finance and operational management, and at law school he was admitted to the Justinian Honorary Society, an honor reserved for the top students in the class. Following graduation, Chip then earned the privilege of serving as law clerk to the Honorable William L. Witham, Jr. of the Delaware Superior Court. His intelligence and work ethic are still evident in his service to his clients at GF&M.
