Patrick J. Rohrbach

Director
Patrick J. Rohrbach

Patrick J. Rohrbach advises individuals, families, and businesses across the United States and globally on matters of Delaware trust law and related tax issues.

Patrick advises and opines on all matters of Delaware trust law, including the establishment, construction, modification, and jurisdictional transfer of trusts. Many of Patrick’s clients are high net worth individuals based in high income tax states seeking to take advantage of Delaware’s unique trust laws to minimize the tax effect of business transactions, or protect personal and intergenerational wealth. He regularly handles the migration of existing trusts to Delaware and the subsequent modification of trust provisions in accordance with Delaware law to gain financial or other benefits for his client. Patrick has particular experience working with tech founders, entrepreneurs, startups, and other businesses to optimize the tax consequences of an upcoming sale or round of investments.

Patrick also establishes new trusts for clients, advising them on the most beneficial and tax-efficient trust arrangements for their specific personal and business needs. He provides sound advice on efficient gift and estate tax planning, the use of asset protection trusts, the Qualified Small Business Stock (Q.S.B.S.) gain exclusion, and other issues that can ultimately affect a client’s bottom line or long-term financial security.

If Patrick is not analyzing complex legal issues, he is probably thinking about sports. In law school, he even successfully combined his passions as Managing Editor of Outside Articles for the Jeffrey S. Moorad Sports Law Journal.
