Christopher P. Clemson

CHRISTOPHER P. CLEMSON is a director at the Firm representing businesses and individuals in residential and commercial real estate matters, commercial financing, corporate issues, and civil and corporate litigation.

Chris provides strategic and business-savvy advice to clients on all commercial and residential real estate matters and disputes. His practice encompasses real estate transactions, financing structure, purchase and sales, leases, regulatory compliance, construction, land development and land use approvals, zoning issues, as well as real estate litigation, including, without limitation, partition proceedings, quiet title actions, commercial landlord-tenant actions, and construction disputes. He works closely with clients, often in collaboration with their other advisors, to achieve the client’s objectives with minimum risk and maximum value. As real estate law continues to evolve, Chris’s broad knowledge of all aspects of real estate law, combined with his litigation skillset, gives his clients a distinct advantage in and out of the courtroom.

In conjunction with his real estate practice, Chris also represents corporations and organizations – local, national, and international – in corporate transactions and litigation, as well as bankruptcy proceedings. He supports his clients in a wide range of corporate matters including business formation, sales or purchases, and restructuring; contract negotiation; financing issues; and compliance issues. When disputes arise, Chris is able to draw on his experience representing clients in a wide variety of civil and corporate litigation.

Prior to joining GF&M, Chris established a solid foundation in business law and dispute resolution, both at law school and as a clerk in the bankruptcy courts. As a law student, he was President of the Business Law Society and an active member of the Tax and Bankruptcy Law Society and Temple American Inn of Court. Following law school, he gained valuable litigation and bankruptcy experience clerking for Chief Judge Eric L. Frank of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Chris utilizes this experience daily in the service of his GF&M clients.

Not native to Delaware, Chris has become well known in the local legal and business community, and embraced all that the state has to offer. When he is not in the office or attending a local business event, he can often be found golfing, fly-fishing, hiking, or watching movies and some of our local sports teams in action.
